It has been nearly a year since Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus gave its final farewell but that does not mean that the circus experience is lost forever.

Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus (www.cgmc.org) presents “Under the Big Top” on May 20 at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago.

“In order to try to make it a true circus experience, we have some professional circus performers who are joining us,” said Jimmy Morehead, artistic director of Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, via phone while driving to a gig in Chicago.

These performers include aerialist and cube act Ray Gunn with the Vertical Side Show, tightwire artist Molly Plunk, hula hoop act Aerial Emery and sword swallower Sally Marvel.

“Under the Big Top” also features 150 chorus members, six dance numbers and more than 30 dancers.

Selections include “Razzle Dazzle” from the musical “Chicago,” songs from the musical “Barnum” about Barnum & Bailey Circus co-creator P.T. Barnum, “This Is Me” from the film “The Greatest Showman” that was inspired by Barnum’s circus, and tunes by Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Billy Joel.
